A set of drawings that control a product or project from conception to obsolescence is called working drawings. All of the following may be included in the set at one time or another.

- II. Concept drawings- accurate “idea” drawings to help other less technically informed people to understand and possibly make decisions about the project.
- III.Layout drawings have been the first “accurate” drawings in the past, when the different parts are manually drawn to scale in their expected positions to confirm placement and fit.
